Questionnaire analysis

Question 1 – The first question was, ‘What would you associate with an acoustic blues music video?’ The majority answer was a depressed man/woman. This fits in nicely with my current idea, so at the moment I do not have to change my idea this just tells me my idea suits the genre.

Question 2 – ‘Is the narrative important to a music video?’ The majority answer to this question was yes, so this means in my music video I would have to try building a narrative.

Question 3 – ‘Should the narrative fit in with the lyrics of the song?’ Again a majority answered yes, this makes it easier for me to find a narrative because I just need to listen to the lyrics.

Question 4 – ‘What is the key thing to a music video?’ The majority answered the narrative; this result just shows me that the narrative is the key thing to a music video.

Question 5 – ‘What age group would you associate with acoustic blues?’ The majority answer was 16-21; this question was just to find out what my target age group was.

Question 6 – ‘where would you find a music video of this genre?’ a vast majority said YouTube/MySpace showing this isn’t a big genre.

Question 7 – ‘How should the main character fit in with the lyrics?’ A majority said act/play music so that just makes my must have guitar even more needed. It was followed by a lot of people saying sing so there I am going to have some singing in the video as well.

Music video treatment

Ideas/Concepts/Inspiration

Idea - A man sat drinking on his own 'drowning his sorrows', with people constantly asking him if there is something wrong. Also have lots of cuts to him play guitar and mouthing the words.
Inspiration - Lyrics - chorus - "There's something wrong, there's nothing wrong. Stop asking", repeated twice.

What will need? (props, actors, locations etc.)

Actors - 1 man and a group of people/friends
Locations - Bar?
Props - Table, guitar, alcohol, other things to make a typical bar scene.

What will the challenges be and how will I overcome them?

The location will be a problem and I am unsure how I will overcome that, but i could attempt to make a pub scene in my house. Also, I do not yet know where i will get a guitar, but, I'm sure one of my friends will have one I can borrow.

Justification

I will try to make my whole music video suit the genre, also, in some parts I will have some one singing along to the lyrics whilst playing guitar, so I will be following Goodwin's ideas. I am going to go against Laura Mulvey's theory so I will not have loads of women dancing around half naked because it doesn't fit the genre.
