How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

My ancillary task was to create a CD sleeve and either a poster or a website, I decided to make a poster to advertise the album.

I think the music video and the CD sleeve have same message as they do not contrast in the mood given out from them. As it is a acoustic blues genre, a quite depressing message would have to be given off and I had to keep that going throughout my project. I have used some shots from my music video for the inside sleeves of my CD this creates a direct link with the album cover and the music video.

However, with my poster I decided to be creative and original by mimicking a 'lost pet' poster and making it seem like the album is lost and slightly changing the wording, for example I changed, 'have you seen this dog' to 'have you heard this album' making it have a aspect of comedy about it to help sell the album. Also having a lost poster to a certain extent fits in with the music video, saying he is lost in life. I used the CD cover as the picture so that people drawn in by the consumer know exactly what to look for if they want to if they want to purchase the album.

The overall effectiveness of the music video and ancillary task works quite well as it all gives off the same message and fits in with the characteristics of my genre.
